ordering pizza
this is what i do everytime and then last time i did it i got a call from an old chinese man saying “i’m the only one working is it ok if i come”
he got a $20 tip
Hey as a manager at a pizza shop, this makes us all uncomfortable. Wether it be a boy or girl driver I HAVE to tell them to be vigilant. Don’t go into the house. Don’t speak more than necessary. Don’t give them your name. Leave if you feel unsafe, I don’t care if they don’t get their food. Call me when you’re coming back so I know you’re okay.
The company (before I worked there of course) had a girl kidnapped because of this! Because the manager at the time didn’t think to send another employee seeing as it was close to midnight! Thankfully they got her back within a day. I don’t care if you’re just trying to be funny. This is predatory and very scary.
Side note that’s related: DON’T HIT ON YOUR DRIVERS! Unless the show signs of wanting to get to know you or something, don’t make them uncomfortable. I had to put a guy on the DON’T DELIVER list because he kept calling for my 17yo female employee, only wanted her, no one else. I refused to send her and then he started coming in and wanted to talk to her. She was terrified, rightfully so. She also told me about a month after she quit, she swore she saw him walking around her neighborhood. She had to put a restraining order against the fucker.
LEAVE THE DRIVERS ALONE YOU CREEPS.
yeah uh speaking as a driver this always makes me really uncomfortable to see. If someone says ‘write a joke on the box’ I’m pretty happy to write a pun or something, but this kind of thing makes me really uncomfortable, and I used to end up delivering them a lot because it made the younger male drivers uncomfortable to see this kind of thing. Now I work mostly with industry veterans instead of being the SOLE industry veteran, but the newer driver doesn’t know how to handle this stuff yet and often shunts it in our direction because of how weird and creepy it comes off.
if you want to do fun interaction through notes something like ‘have the driver tell us their favorite knock knock joke’ or something. Generally we’re HAPPY to do that interaction. We had one guy, who is a regular now, regularly ask for the driver to tell their favorite scary movie until he got through the full rota of all of us. It turns out he makes horror movies and he’s another one of our ‘halloween is every day’ type of customers, very beloved by us. We’ve made pizza before the store opens for a family celebration he did, like, you can endear yourselves to us EASILY I promise you.
I’m happy to tell you my favorite movie, my favorite animated movie, my second favorite joke (my favorite takes too long to tell), my favorite TTRPG, my favorite video game. Like, that’s all fun stuff! We cater to a game store and sometimes I stop and talk Critical Role with them (among other things) because SHOCKINGLY a store that specializes in board games and ttrpgs has some critters on staff. Like, we like to have positive interactions!
Just don’t be creepy about it. And you may not intend them to, but those kinds of messages come off as creepy af. Don’t be ‘the house with the creepy person’. Nobody wants to deliver to that house.
